My Lip Care Routine

2:44 AM

Remember that I have a severe dry lip problem? In case you haven't read about it, do read it first here where I talk about my dry lips.

Well, after a month or so using the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (in travel size), I must say that I wake up every morning with plump and smooth lips. But recently I come to understand that the moisture fades after washing my face and brushing my teeth. My lips gets dry again throughout the day.

That's when I decided to be in the look out for complimentary product to be used in day time. If you read my post, you must know that I hate greasy, glossy, and oily lip balms. Especially for daily use. So, I research the best lip balm for my liking (but also has everything that my chafed lips need to be healthier). And that's when Glossier Balm Dotcom came in the picture.

Oh. my. God. I love it! It's suuuper moisturising without leaving any greasy feeling. It gives just the perfect amount of moisturiser that makes your lips look healthy, natural, slightly shiny but not crazy-shiny. I picked the Rose flavor so it has a hint of rosy scent (not too much!). And although the product has a translucent pink tint, it gives no significant color change to the lips.

Texture wise: solid paste, somewhat wax-y that stays in place to seal in moisture wherever it goes. It slightly turns into oil as you glide it on to the lips. The tube says that it is a universal skin salve so you can actually use it on cuticles, elbows, or any dry skin. The packaging is super cute! Also another consideration when I decided to buy this product. Because who doesn't love Glossier packaging?

So, in daily I use the Balm Dotcom as a lip base before I apply my lip cream. And in the middle of the day, I sometimes reapply the balm as I need to reapply the lip cream. I basically make sure that my lips gets its moisturiser dose throughout the day.

Onto the night time routine. After I get back from work (or wherever I go that day), I always wipe clean my lips using makeup remover. Currently I keep the Bioderma Sensibio H20 and the Maybelline Make Up Remover on rotation. After that, I use this Lush Bubblegum lip scrub to make sure I leave no excess lip cream or dirty skin behind.

I've been using Lush products for a while now. I used the Dark Angel charcoal face wash and everyone's-favorite Mask of Magnaminty. That's why I decided to go with Lush for my lip scrub because I know I'll love it. Second, because it is organic. Third, again, the packaging!

It contains fine castor sugar that gives a gentle exfoliation and hydrating organic jojoba oil that leaves my lips feeling soft, smooth and supple. I scrub my lips once in 2 days, sometimes in 3 days. Depending on how much lipstick I put that day. The texture is sugary and very scrub-y, just how I expect it. But let me talk about the scent. Good Lord, it's very very sweet! It's a combination of bubble gum and candy. Very very yummy! The website says that once you're done scrubbing your lips, you can lick off the excess for a tasty pick-me-up. :p

To use it simply scrub it onto the lips, gently. And rinse it well. You can now feel your lips extra fresh and clean like a baby! Oh, lip scrubbing is also good to rejuvenate your lips natural color. Mine has been darken since long time ago. Caffeine and the overuse of lipstick (and not cleaning it properly) are main causes. So if you want to have better lip texture and get back to your rose-y healthy lip color, I suggest you to include lip scrubbing in your night time routine.

Back to Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, you might want to be careful with scrubbing it too hard. If you find the product too harsh for you, make sure to apply lip balm or lip moisturiser RIGHT AWAY. I use my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in no time.

That's it! I've been doing the regime for a couple of weeks now and I can tell you my lips is in its best condition. Texture: plump and hydrated. Color: slightly lighter, I notice the color of the outer part of the lips is starting to match the inner part. Yes to even lip-skin tone! Feel: healthy and happy.

Share with me your lip care routine on the comment section below, folks! I'd like to hear from you. :)
